Izzy Muncaster, Polo Club

Izzy joined the polo club in 2020 after being out of sport due to injury in her first year. Izzy trained multiple times a week throughout the summer, travelling from Manchester to Oxford and her passion for polo was so highly recognised within the club that they decided to bring her on as captain.

Izzy took on her role so well and has been a strong role model to this year's first years. As such a strong addition to the club this year, she will now be taking on the role of President for the 2021/22 academic year.

Grace Manning, Swimming Club

Grace has gone above and beyond throughout the year for everyone in the Swimming Club to ensure they all members both returning and new, felt welcome and safe. She has been creative in finding opportunities for the club to grow and bond with members as they haven’t stepped foot in a pool. Despite this, Grace managed to leep morale high with her constantly updating the club and finding land training hours elsewhere, getting us involved in charity work and pushing for fun, weekly zoom socials so that everyone had something to look forward to.

Through all the ups and downs, and the rules and restrictions constantly changing, Grace managed to keep the club going strong and has been an outstanding role model… Grace is an extremely smart and motivated individual whose passion for swimming is inspiring to so many. The whole club will be very sad to see her gone after this year, however will continue to push for the high standards Grace has set to make swimming the best club it can be.

Club Spirit Award Winner

The Tennis Club

Over the past year the Tennis Club has stepped up and provided a fun experience for all of it’s competitive and social members. They have run weekly social sessions throughout the whole year, providing students with an opportunity to continue physical activity during these difficult times. They have actively engaged with Brookes Sport to overcome obstacles and have dramatically grown their membership base.

They participated in a whole range of fundraising events and challenges and coordinated a club 5k fun run for Movemeber where some members completed this within their flat’s corridor as they were isolating. The club have shown huge dedication to providing opportunities for all and we are excited to see the new heights the club reach over the coming years.

Jaz Cornish, Netball Club

As president of the Netball Club, Jaz has worked tirelessly this yearto make sure that the club has been able to function, despite having very little time on court this season due to the pandemic. She has overseen the merge of BUCS, Development and Social netball squads through the building of relationships and setting of a vision for the club which everyone has gotten behind and supported. During all this, Jasmin organised and motivated OBUNCs girls through the club’s Movember Move Challenge in which the club raised over £2800.

I can’t think of anyone else who deserves more recognition for their hard work and constant dedication to their club, it’s members and the community whilst the whole time having a smile on their face and spreading positivity always!
