This Summer, Oxford Brookes are delighted to be able to host our new 6 week Strength and Conditioning courses.

There is something in here for everyone, with beginners and experienced lifters all welcome.

We will be hosting a range of six week courses across the Summer with the first one starting on Monday 5th June in our high quality gym space, sports hall and studio, run by qualified and experienced coaches.

S&C is much more than a simple gym workout. Strength and Conditioning prescribes tailored exercise and movement to improve athletic performance. Put simply, if you want to get fitter, faster, and stronger - S&C is for you.

What will we have on offer?

Learn to Lift - Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm

Learn to Lift

Learn to Lift is a 6 week course for those wanting to reach their fitness goals, increase strength and develop their technique in the basic lifts in a group setting.

The course begins and ends with a full screen to determine your personal goals, injury history, current levels of strength and body composition using our InBody body composition analyser in place of a learn to lift group session.

Your strength program will be designed specifically for you by our coaching team and the sessions are run in our state of the art performance facility. If you want to add another session to your training week, book into our Strength Class.

  • 2 learn to lift session per week for 6 weeks

Strength Class - Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm

Strength Class

Strength class is a resistance based class that will use barbells and weights to give a whole body strength workout. The class will focus on strength and technique exercises.

The class is free to Brookes Sport gym members or available as pay as you go for non members. Classes are structured into sets of exercises for specific repetitions. You will use weights that are challenging for the set repetitions. Everyone goes at their own pace, but each week push yourself to lift a little more than you did the week before.

CrossFit - Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at various times


CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more.

The coaching team will guide you through the day’s WOD, teach you new skills and keep you safe by correcting technique and teaching you correct movement patterns.

CrossFit Barbell - Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm

CrossFit Bodyweight - Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm

  • 2 CrossFit Bodyweight session per week for 6 weeks

CrossFit Cardio - Tuesdays and Fridays from 12pm

  • 2 CrossFit Cardio session

  • Brookes Sport Headington - Sports Hall
