Consistently one of the top performing clubs in the country, 2016/17 has been yet another successful season for Oxford Brookes Basketball Club, highlighted by the Women winning NBL Division 2 South and earning promotion to Division 1, the second highest tier of basketball in the UK.

Last week, three more Brookes players and coaches were also recognised for their on-court success in the National Basketball League end-of-season awards, bringing the club's total individual awards haul to 7 in four years.

On the women's side, Courtney Gray was named Division 2 South Player of the Year whilst Zach Meekings, who works as the Sports Administrator at Brookes Sport in Headington, won the Coach of the Year award.

For the men, Abdoulaye 'Hakeem' Sylla was chosen by coaches as the Division 3 South Player of the Year. This is the second time Hakeem has been given this honour in three seasons, winning the D4 South-West League and Playoff awards in 2014/15. He is also nominated for the Sportsman of the Year at the 34th Brookes Sport Sports Awards this week.
