Brookes Sport is open

Brookes Sport reopened on Monday 12 April, with restrictions further relaxed on Monday 17 May.
Please note that our continued opening is subject to national and local restrictions and may change at short notice.
Please read below for further restriction relaxation guidance for our sports facilities - effective Monday 2 August
With national
restrictions being lifted by the government, at Brookes Sport we are now in a
position to make some changes to the way we have been operating over the last
year and a half. Details of these changes are highlighted below, and will take
effect from Monday 2 August – please note, these updates are subject to change
based on national restrictions.
Swimming Pool (Harcourt Hill)
- Booking
will remain in place, whilst maximum pool capacity will be expanding from 10 to
14.
- The
pool timetable will feature lane swims, open swims, and over 55 sessions.
- Changing
rooms and showers will be back in use with maximum capacity signs displayed on
doors – we ask that visitors limit their time within the changing rooms and
showers were possible.
- Under
5's will be able to attend open swims with parent/carer but will not count as
part of the maximum bather load. Over 5's will need to book ahead of their
visit.
- Kickboards
and pull buoys for lane swimming will be available on request and must be
sanitised after use.
- Lockers
will be available for use and will be cleaned hourly by centre staff - wipes
will also be available and visitors are encouraged to use these to clean their
locked between uses.
- Water fountains
will be available with disinfectant wipes available, and will be cleaned by
centre staff
Gyms (Headington and Harcourt Hill)
- Booking
will no longer be required, whilst operations staff will maintain their current
hourly cleaning schedule. Screens between equipment will remain in place.
Gym (Wheatley)
- All
equipment will be back in use and maximum capacity will be increasing from 4 to
8.
Sports Hall (Headington)
- Following
Sport England and NGB guidance, indoor sports can take place.
Fitness Classes (Headington and Harcourt Hill
- Capacity
will be expanded at both sites, with an increase to 20 at Headington, and 12 at
Harcourt Hill.
Pavilion (Harcourt Hill)
- The
capacity for this area will be increased from 4 to 8 (with a maximum of two
people in the shower area at any time).
Reception area (Headington and Harcourt Hill)
- Seating
will once again be available
- Screens
on front desks will remain in place
Sauna/Steam (Harcourt Hill)
- A
maximum capacity of 2 people will be permitted in this area – visitors must
book a swim to use this facility.
Sauna/Steam (Headington)
- This
area will remain closed.
Climbing Wall (Headington)
- Capacity in this
facility will be expanded from 32 to 50.
- Instructed
sessions can resume.
Equipment hire
- Rackets
and bats will be available to hire from reception. These must be returned and
will be sanitised between uses.
Face
masks/coverings
- In line with the
rest of the Oxford Brookes University, Brookes Sport asks that visitors
continue to wear face masks or coverings indoors when not taking part in
sport/exercise, or unless exempt.
