Doug Chirnside Scotland Rugby League

Two of this year’s undefeated Oxford Brookes University Rugby League team are heading to Australia after being selected by Scotland to play in the Student World Cup this month.

Supported by Brookes Sport performance sport funding, Jack Elliott (#12, a Santander Sports Scholar) and Doug Chirnside (#14, pictured) are among a 23-man squad making the trip Down Under, where they will face Wales, Ireland and England in the pool stages, beginning July 7th in Sydney.

With no Australia or New Zealand (who have won the previous eight tournaments between them) until the semi-finals, Jack and Doug will be looking to add a World Cup medal to an already successful season, which included a BUCS Conference and Conference Cup double, as well as a first-ever ‘Derby Day’ victory over Oxford University Men’s 1st XIII at Iffley Road in March.
