Career choices and transitions are a frequent topic in coaching sessions.  They involve identity, and identity work, and these are areas that can be challenging.  Our clients have to craft new selves – not wholesale, but a rebalancing, an extension, an evolution of who they are now. Women’s experience of this can be particularly complex in our gendered society.  Yet the topic of identity work is rarely included in coaching education.  In this webinar I will introduce a coaching model, co-created with research participants, that will help you to support your clients as they experience identity work in their career choices and transitions.  We will explore:

  • Contemporary understandings of identity, identity work, careers and transitions
  • Four stages of identity work in career choices and transitions
  • How you can most effectively support your clients with their identity work during career transitions

Sarah Snape

Sarah works alongside senior leaders of global organisations as they work on career and life success. She believes that everyone can learn, grow and achieve positive change, and enjoys seeing her clients experience this for themselves. Like all of us, she has experienced numerous career transitions, and currently loves coaching and supporting her clients - individuals, teams and organisations - as they build on who they are now in order to become who they want to be.

In 2021 she completed her Doctorate on women’s identity work in career transitions from Oxford Brookes University. In the same year she was awarded the NICEC/Bill Law Award for her article based on the research.
