The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the global professional accounting body offering the Charted Certified Accountant qualification. The ACCA has a network of over 100 offices and centres in over 50 countries. The ACCA is a globally respected qualification, with over 100 years’ experience as a leading professional accounting body. The qualification is based on international accounting standards and an ACCA qualification indicates professional excellence.

Oxford Brookes University and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) are delighted to congratulate the 911 students that have successfully passed their Research and Analysis project, and have been awarded a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting. This is an impressive achievement given the students submitted work in May 2020 as coronavirus disrupted much of everyday life.

The BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting is a unique collaboration between Oxford Brookes and ACCA, offering students the opportunity to gain an undergraduate degree whilst studying for their professional qualifications. The collaboration has been in existence for 20 years and this was the 40th cohort of students graduating from the program. These graduates join over 33,500 alumni from 175 different countries.

The pass rate for this submission period increased to 66% of submissions, with increasing numbers of students achieving higher grades. The External Examiner commended the quality of the work submitted, recognising that the combination of the BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting and the ACCA qualification was very attractive to employers.

BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting graduates will have access to the recently launched ACCA Careers Skills Builder, which provides a range of tools to help the graduates make the most of their ACCA and Oxford Brookes qualifications in the workplace and to support them to find or change their job.

Dr Jane Towers-Clark, ACCA Head of Academic Partnerships, commented: “ACCA would like to congratulate the Applied Accounting graduates on achieving their BSc. To gain their degree from Oxford Brookes University at the same time as undertaking their professional qualification, and for some students working as well, shows dedication and determination. The skills they develop along the way will support their employability and they should be very proud of their achievement – well done.”
