Guest presentation by Dr Todd Bridgman ‘Why we need new histories of management’
Friday, 19 January 2018
The Business School was pleased to welcome Dr Todd Bridgman from the School of Management, Victoria University of Wellington and currently an academic visitor of Wolfson College, Cambridge, to talk about his new book: A NEW History of Management.
In the seminar Todd made the case for why existing histories serve our management field poorly and how new and different histories can provide innovative ideas for thinking about the role of management in society today. It led to a thought-provoking engagement on the ‘foundations’ of management and their ideological underpinnings.
Todd as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Management Learning also gave useful insights into the kind of papers the journal aims to publish (see http://journals.sagepub.com/home/mlq)
