A paper co-authored by Professor Juliette Koning: 'Local Tourism Businesses in Indonesia: A Pathway to Crisis-Resilient Development?', is part of a Special Issue (Open Access) on Tourism and the Sustainable Development Goals in Southeast Asia.
Based on qualitative research, the paper discusses the various strategies that small enterprises in the silver souvenir industry of Kotagede (Yogyakarta, Indonesia) applied to cope with multiple crises (economic downturn, terrorist acts, and natural disasters) that severely impacted tourism and subsequently their businesses.
