Undergraduate placements award

On 31 October 2019, Oxford Brookes Business School and The Oxford School of Hospitality Management held their annual Placement Awards ceremony. The event, hosted by the Dean of The Business School, Chris Blackburn, saw 180 students and staff celebrate what was once again another outstanding year for business and hospitality work placement students.

The event, held in the Terrace Restaurant in the John Henry Brookes Building, was a fabulous occasion with food, drink, prizes and numerous entertaining speeches. The awards ceremony is always a special event where students, staff and employers are acknowledged for all their hard work and it remains a celebratory highlight of the Business School's year.

There were a number of awards given out throughout the evening to employers, placement tutors, and students.

We know that for employers they are looking for a 'dream combination'. A good degree, plus sound demonstrations of practical work experience. The placement experience that Brookes offers gives students that combination, helping them pull ahead in the crowded graduate market. These students will now have a reservoir of practical experience to draw on as they complete their degrees, showing that they understand the link between theory and application. This will help them emerge as well-rounded graduates equipped for their future careers.
