Professor Simonetta Manfredi was invited by AdvanceHE to take part in two roundtable discussions in May which brought together Directors of Human Resources from Higher Education Institutions and representatives of Executive Search Firms.
The purpose of these discussions was to develop a Diversity Principles Framework to underpin the recruitment process for universities boards. This framework is based on findings and recommendations from research carried out in 2016-17 by Professor Manfredi and Professor Lucy Vickers from the Law School, to examine the role of Executive Search Firms in the recruitment and selection process for senior appointments in higher education institutions (HEIs) and in particular in relation to the need for increasing gender and ethnic diversity. This research was funded by Hefce, Hefcw and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education and a full report can be accessed at
