Dr Ioanna Iordanou's book, Venice's Secret Service has been shortlisted for the Royal Historical Society’s Gladstone Prize.
Each year the Royal Historical Society shortlists from a
very strong field of monographs. Dr Ioanna Iordanou’s book, Venice’s Secret Service has been chosen
because it uniquely pushes the boundaries of historical and social enquiry into
the impact of systematic intelligence in an early modern state’s political,
economic, and social security and prosperity.
Ioanna’s book explores Venice’s secret service as a complex,
fully-functioning public sector organisation, as it operated in the Renaissance
period. Dr Ioanna Iordanou’s success is a testament to the hard work and the quality
of research that Oxford Brookes Business School continues to undertake.
