Oxford Brookes Business School
CLC.1.27 Business School, Headington campus
I am the Subject Co-ordinator for Business Management (Combined Honours) and I lead/co-lead core first and second year modules on that programme: Introduction to Business and Management, and Business Strategy for Competitive Advantage. I also co-lead a cross-faculty second year module focused on facilitating students' development of employability skills for year 3 industrial placement.
Claire is Subject Co-ordinator for our Combined Honours programme in Business Management. She also co-leads Introduction to Business and Management (core first year module on Combined Honours), Business Strategy for Competitive Advantage (core second year module for all Combined and Single Honours programmes) and co-leads Skills for Placement Search, a faculty-wide module aimed at developing students' employability skills. Claire is a Brookes Teaching Fellow (awarded summer 2014) working with colleagues on the Combined Honours programme to investigate and develop students' epistemic fluency. She is also an Academic Conduct Officer in the Faculty. Claire received a Brookes Union award in May 2014 for her innovative use of technology in her teaching.
A languages graduate of Heriot-Watt University, Claire taught in Japan and at Teikyo University of Japan in Durham before moving to northern Poland in 1996 as Director of Studies at a language school. Thus began a varied teaching career, working largely on curriculum development and teacher training. Claire and her family relocated to Oxford and she joined Oxford Brookes in 2000.
