Campus opening times

As we approach the festive season, students, staff and visitors can find out about campus arrangements, which include:

  • campus access arrangements including catering outlets, libraries and Brookes Sport
  • post and distribution schedules
  • information on Brookes Print services.

As campus access arrangements may need to change, we advise you to continue to check our webpages if you require access to the University over the festive period

Campus opening and access

Oxford Brookes’ campus buildings will close with limited card access from 5.00pm on Friday 23 December, before reopening on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

In line with all other Bank Holidays and Concessionary days, a number of SALTO controlled buildings will be secured and accessible to students and staff by card until Tuesday 3 January 2023. Staff and students should carry photographic ID with them, as well as their access card.

Buildings and sites that are not controlled by SALTO or where there is no demand to occupy will be key locked, as detailed below. Staff within faculties or directorates who have specific requirements for the SALTO locks to be activated in certain areas earlier than the usual building closure time on Friday 23 December, should email Clare Colwell on by Friday 16 December.

Libraries (all campuses) - University libraries will closed from Friday 24 December 2021 to Monday 3 January 2022 inclusive. Please check the locations and opening hours webpages for the specific hours for each campus. 

Staying safe - If you are on campus over the Christmas period, please familiarise yourself with the University’s lone working policy. Oxford Brookes Security Services will continue to be on site during this time. The team can be contacted 24/7 at any point over the Christmas period on 01865 48 3060 (Security Control Room).

Post and distribution schedule

The Post and Distribution team has maintained a flexible delivery schedule this year in response to demand for its service. The schedule below will be in place until January 2023 when it will be reviewed again. If you have any specific requirements please email and the team will try to help.

Campus deliveries (Monday-Friday):

  • Harcourt Hill Campus - Monday / Wednesday / Friday at approximately 10.00am
  • Marston Road Site - daily at approximately 1.30pm
  • Wheatley Campus - Tuesday / Thursday at approximately 10.00am
  • Swindon Campus - Tuesday / Friday at approximately 10.00am, delivery / collection from Print & Post Room, Fuller Building, Gipsy Lane Site.

Royal Mail post delivery:

Incoming post is delivered every Monday with any non-urgent outgoing post collected. Please bring any urgent outgoing post to the Print & Post Room counter, Fuller Building, which is open daily from midday to 3.30pm. Royal Mail collection is at 3.45pm; please allow time for larger volumes of post to be processed. 

Royal Mail parcel delivery:

Non-ambient parcels are delivered twice a day at 10.30am and 3.30pm. Ambient parcels are delivered as soon after arrival as possible.

Deliveries of personal parcels and Christmas closure

  • Any parcels that are easily recognisable as personal will be held in Stores. Once you receive confirmation from the supplier/courier that it has been delivered, please collect it from Stores (in Fuller Building, with Brookes Print) between 8.00am and 4.00pm (weekdays). You must bring ID with you.
  • Ordering from Amazon? We encourage you to use the secure Amazon lockers located on campus.
  • The Post and Distribution team does not accept any liability for personal parcels (eg for missed deliveries).
  • Please note that deliveries from couriers are accepted until 4.30pm – any deliveries attempted after this time may be returned. The last deliveries to be accepted from couriers on Friday 23 December will be midday.
  • Counter service for posting personal letters and parcels is available between 12 noon and 3.30pm (weekdays) – card payment only. The last collection of post by Royal Mail will be Thursday 22 December. Please see the Royal Mail website for posting deadlines.
  • The Post Room will be closed from 3.30pm on Thursday 22 December 2022 and re-open on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
  • The Royal Mail have planned strike dates of the 23 and 24 December. Any urgent post needing to be sent out would need to be sent in the Tuesday 20 December collection to have any chance of being delivered before Christmas.

Brookes Print

Brookes Print is open for business for staff, students and external customers until 12 noon on Friday 23 December 2022 and will reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
