Overview
Our mission as Oxford Brookes Business School (OBBS) is to ‘Inspire minds with insight and ambition’. Our doctoral students sit at the heart of this mission. The School is now accepting applications from outstanding candidates for a doctoral studentship at the research centre Business, Society and Global Challenges.
The Centre for Business, Society and Global Challenges (BSGC) advances knowledge on rapidly evolving social, economic, political, environmental and technological forces and their impacts on organisations, institutions and communities. Our members work in a variety of national and international contexts to generate insights and drive impactful research. The centre has won funding from Innovate UK, British Academy of Management, the British Council, and the British Academy amongst others.
The BSGC comprises four interrelated research clusters:
- Responsible Organising and Governance
- Digital Societies
- Sustainable Development, Accounting and Applied Economics
- People, Communities and Places.

Additional details
As a doctoral student, you can transform your future through undertaking rigorous and creative research training with recognised methodological and subject experts to become an independent researcher. You will have an opportunity to develop life-long networks, produce journal articles with supervisors and engage in some teaching, if desired.
There is a possibility for the studentships to be awarded to applicants to our new distance learning PhD programme.
