I studied Japanese language and culture for a year at a university in southern Japan. First and foremost my confidence and ability in my language skills improved immeasurably. This enabled me to successfully complete more advanced language modules in my final year. Spending a year in Japan gave me a greater depth of understanding of Japanese culture and it was my first opportunity to apply what I had learnt and develop my own insights.

The freedom and flexibility to choose my modules was the thing that I appreciated the most, especially as I was doing a combined course. Through the ability to tailor my degree I felt I was getting exactly what I wanted out of my time at Brookes, in one of the best cities in the UK at catering for its student population.
