When I came on the open day I was really impressed by the friendliness and openness of the French Department. I wanted to study somewhere where I actually felt as if I was valued and not just another face in the crowd.

I have really enjoyed the French half of my degree and the ability to do a range of modules. I liked the fact that all aspects of the language and culture are covered in my degree I will no doubt feel well equipped when I graduate! I have really enjoyed the ability to mix the two halves of my degree but especially doing modules in European business and learning about the role of France in terms of Europe and from a more global perspective.

Overall, I like the fact that the lecturers actually know you! There's nothing worse than being taught for an entire year and the lecturer not knowing your name! This was never a problem in the French Department as it is a really close community where all the students and teachers interact.

My advice to anyone considering studying French would be just enjoy it! French requires a lot of hard and continuous work but if you're willing to put it in you will definitely get more out of the course!
