Spark Awards offer funding up to £500 to give individuals or small groups the chance to test an idea or a project.

You can apply for a Spark Award at any point in the academic year.

The funding is a useful, low risk way to see if your business idea has legs. It’s open to a diverse mix of business ventures, including social enterprises, social innovations and business startups. With Spark Awards, you can:

    • conduct research
    • run a small scale project to get feedback on your product, the market or the competition
    • test the viability of your idea

Spark Awards is about taking the first step to starting your venture, and learning what skills you need to deliver a large scale service or product in the future. Or, if you’re looking for a graduate job, it’s a fantastic opportunity to improve on valuable project management and critical thinking skills. You’ll have the flexibility to progress at your own pace and focus on the areas of business most relevant to you.

The application process is simple - fill in the form, deliver a small pitch and you’re ready to go! You’ll have all the advice and support you’ll need to run a successful project and get your venture off to the best start.

We have two pitching dates each semester. You will be invited for a pitch date once you have submitted an application form. If you would like any support or have questions about the process please get in touch.
