A successful afternoon of enterprise and entrepreneurship at our first Backed by Brookes Showcase.
On Wednesday 10th October we hosted our first ‘Backed by Brookes Showcase’ of the academic year. The event saw past and present Enterprise Support backed students and graduates showcasing their businesses.
The event was a great way for prospective entrepreneurs to meet previously supported students from the Enterprise Support Scheme, and hear their stories. It also gave them a chance to find out how to begin their start-up journey with the support of the Enterprise Support Team.
Our exhibitors included, Connor Green and Jess Yelf with ‘nightlyfe’, Nick Jones with ‘Food-Haul’, Waleed Bin Khalid with ‘Acosity’, Pedro Simas and Raluca Vagner with ‘Stumped’, Harry Hall with ‘OneCup’, and Hattie Speed with ‘This Girl Makes’.
It was also our pleasure to invite Brookes Alumna and entrepreneur, Aileen Gilani, back to Oxford Brookes in the evening for a talk on her journey in creating her business ‘The Luxury Student Private Members Club’.
Following her graduation from Brookes in 2015, Aileen went on to create her business which is a private members club based in London that helps bridge the gap between a community of students passionate about the luxury industry and world-renowned luxury brands.
It was a great opportunity for the audience to hear from Aileen about the importance of growing their knowledge and their network to pursue their career ambitions.
To follow from this inspirational events, we invite budding entrepreneurs to register to attend our upcoming workshops to start their own start-up journey.
