Calling all Oxford Brookes University students, recent graduates and staff with a business idea; If you want the opportunity to work intensively for eight-weeks on your startup idea with support from workshops, access to investors and much more, our 2019 Catalyst Summer Accelerator Programme may be for you. Open to for-profit and not-for-profit endeavours, read on to find out what it’s all about, and how to apply.
The Oxford Brookes Innovation Hub, which opened its doors in September 2018, is where the 2019 Catalyst Summer Accelerator Programme will be based. The eight-week programme has been designed to help start-ups develop ideas into scalable ventures. Those interested in taking part must apply online by noon on Monday 18th February 2019. All team members are required to commit to the full duration of the programme.
Teams will be contacted for interviews during the first week of March before final offers are made. Once offers have been accepted, all team members must be identified by April 1st. Before the programme starts, those selected will meet with an advisor from Brookes Enterprise Support to discuss key project milestones, deliverable and develop a plan of action.
The summer programme then kicks off on June 10th and runs for eight-weeks until mid-September. Those hand-picked to take part will work extensively on their ideas and will be awarded up to £2500. For those who need it, accommodation is also provided. Beginning with a three-day intensive bootcamp, teams will be required to attend meetings, workshops and will be fortunate enough to receive mentoring and advising through a network of Oxford Brookes University talent, staff, entrepreneurs and technology experts. Through this guidance, participants will work to reach the milestones set out for them. To conclude, plans are shared with investors, experts and others from the start-up community on Demo Day in either Oxford or London.
When the programme comes to a close in September, start-ups that participated are encouraged to continue working in the Innovation Hub throughout the academic year to take advantage of the support and guidance offered and the chance to collaborate with fellow entrepreneurs.
If you want to find out more, speak to one of the team members at Brookes Enterprise Support and join our Catalyst Info Session on Wednesday 30th January 2019.
