The Brookes Enterprise Support team is searching for future entrepreneurs with a strong business start-up idea to represent the University at Enterprise Stars 2018.

The Brookes Enterprise Support team is searching for future entrepreneurs with a strong business start-up idea to represent the University at Enterprise Stars 2018.

Enterprise Stars is an annual showcase and enterprise competition organised by the University Alliance. The aim of the event is to celebrate and encourage the emerging business talent from within the student body.

Twelve participating universities will select an individual or team with a genuine idea for a new start-up, which requires some enterprise expertise and seed investment to get started. Competitors will be at the pre-trading phase, but have a solid idea that can be developed through participation in the competition.

The competition welcomes students in any subject and the selected Brookes’ entrepreneurs will take part in a one-day enterprise festival hosted by the University of Salford at their MediaCityUK campus on Thursday 14 June 2018. The day will culminate in the opportunity to win investment and business advice from a panel of investors.

Commented Brookes Enterprise Support Manager, Lydiah Igweh, “This competition gives our students an opportunity to gain real-life experience at developing and pitching a business idea. Crucially we are looking for an individual or team that can bring an innovative idea with a ‘wow’ factor that can really put Brookes on the enterprise map nationally.”

The day-long festival includes opportunities for networking, mentoring, showcasing ideas and advice and support on how to convert a great business idea into reality. The investors will be looking for a proposal for a start-up product or service that demonstrates a viable business with a low cost of entry, evidence of sound market research, and crucially, an innovative idea with the ‘wow’ factor.

Those who have applied for the Brookes Enterprise Support Awards will be automatically considered to go forward for selection to represent Oxford Brookes at Enterprise Stars. Any other students who are interested should contact enterprise-support@brookes.ac.ukby 20th March.
