Entrepreneurial students invited to attend the Oxfordshire Business Awards with Vice Chancellor, Alistair Fitt.
Last Friday, Oxford Brookes University hosted over 500 guests at the Annual Oxfordshire Business Awards (OXBA). We were incredibly fortunate to send four of our enterprising staff and students to attend and be seated at the Vice Chancellors table. Representing Brookes Enterprise Support was Alex Austin (Oxford Robotics Innovation), Frano Lubura (Ignotus Travel Ltd), and Harrison Hall & Max Marass (OneCup).
This year the OXBA celebrated its 25th anniversary of recognising and rewarding the excellence of Oxfordshire-based businesses. With 14 sponsored awards up for grabs, the event welcomed local businesses of various sizes and from a variety of sectors. Awards included the Small Business Award, the Innovation Award and the Young Business Person of the Year Award.
One of our attendees Frano said ‘It was an interesting event with amazing people all around, and a great opportunity for learning about local businesses’. The networking opportunity proved very fruitful to all, with another of our attendees, Alex, saying ‘It was a brilliant opportunity to meet some very high profile businesses within the Oxfordshire and wider area’.
The John Henry Brookes building was beautifully transformed into a luxury venue where a three course meal was served and guests were treated to musical entertainment. Our attendees all mentioned just how incredible the food was, reflecting the hard work of the Oxford Brookes team.
The OXBAs are an incredibly prestigious award to local business persons, providing winners with a sense of recognition and acknowledgement for their hard work and dedication to their businesses. We hope the event inspired our entrepreneurs to keep striving with their business ventures in the hope that one day they may be invited back to the awards this time as a finalist!
