With guest speaker Phoebe Abrahams, Educational Occupational Therapist

Since graduating with a First Class Honors degree in Occupational Therapy in 2010, I have worked exclusively in special and mainstream settings, specialising as an Education OT. I am driven to support children in education who are not meeting their potential – leaving no stone unturned in finding possible reasons behind their difficulties.

I have a particular interest in supporting academic achievement and, in turn, underlying coordination, behavioural and/or emotional difficulties, through identifying and working with neuro-developmental delay that is often present in specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and dyspraxia; as well as in generalised anxiety disorders.

Due to its foundations in neuro-development, my talk on bridging the gap between therapy and education is relevant to individuals who work with, or intend to work with, any children or young adults. My area of specialism expands across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including education, psychology, medicine, allied health and SEND.
