Respecting Cultures, Preserving Knowledge: Anarchist Encounters with the Ainu, 1890-1940 with guest speaker Nadine Willems, Nissan Institute of Studies, University of Oxford

Nadine's research examines transnational intellectual connections between Japan and Europe in the early twentieth century. It focuses on the development, transmission and implementation of ideas through non-state, non institutional channels. It traces the travels and encounters of drifters, renegades, anarchists, and other forgotten figures of modern Japan.
