The programme holds an annual postgraduate day in early summer. This event always provides lively academic exchange throughout. Members of staff in the department are joined by some of our research students and the current cohort from the MA programme in International Studies and the MA in International Law and International Relations. Prospective MA students are also present and they have the chance to meet and discuss the course with staff and current students.<_o3a_p>

Over the years we have welcomed a number of high-profile speakers to this event to provide our guest lecture in the morning. They have included Prof. Shaun Breslin (University of Warwick) who spoke on &aphos;China and the South: Implications for the Global Order&aphos;, Prof. Ray Kiely (Queen Mary, University of London) who discussed &aphos;Globalisation or Imperialism, or Globalisation and Imperialism?&aphos; and Dr. Chukwumerije Okereke (University of Reading) who lectured on &aphos;International Justice and Global Environmental Governance&aphos;.<_o3a_p>

After lunch various postgraduate panels take place beginning with presentations by our doctoral students. This is followed by a number of panels at which MA students give short presentations on their summer dissertation projects.
