Friday, 13 September 2013

Dr Chiara Beccalossi has been invited to talk about her monograph, Female Sexual Inversion: Same-Sex Desires in Italian and British Sexology, ca. 1870-1920 (2012) in Bologna (Italy) on 14 September 2013. The event is organised by Soggettiva, a LGBT association that promotes cultural events.  Dr Beccalossi will discuss her book with Dr Beatrice Busi (University of Verona) and Dr Laura Schettini (Sapienza, University of Rome). Chiara will talk about how female same-sex desires came to be seen as a mental pathology in late nineteenth century Italian society and how the process of pathologisation of same-sex desires continues to have effects on current society.
