Dr Sabine Chaouche has been invited to participate in the Shakespeare and the Costume exhibition organized by Drs Anne Verdier and Catherine Treilhou Balaudé. The 2014 exhibition will be held at the Centre National du Costume de Scène (Theatrical Costumes National Centre, France www.cncs.fr) which is the most important institution in Europe on costumes (its collections include 9,000 theatrical, operatic and dance costumes, as well as sets). Exhibitions such as Noureev, Costume and Power, Backstage, Christian Lacroix and Ballets were organized in the past years. The forthcoming exhibition will focus on the adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays and the British influence in France from the c18 to the contemporary period. Dr Chaouche will provide a comparative article for the catalogue on c18 and c19 Shakespearian costumes in England and France.
