Dr Simon White's AHRC Early Career Fellowship

Tuesday, 25 October 2011

Dr Simon White, Senior Lecturer in Romantic Literature, has recently been awarded a highly presitgious AHRC Early Career Fellowship. This has enabled the department to employ a new member of staff to replace Simon for nine months. Simon will use the fellowshup to complete his monograph Romanticism and the Rural Community, a wide-ranging study of the poetry and fiction of the Romantic period. The book will begin with an exploration of the rural community in 1790s political polemic, before moving on to consider the representation of the rural community in a diverse range of writers including Robert Burns, William Wordsworth, George Crabbe, Jane Austin, Robert Bloomfield, John Clare and Ebenezer Elliot.
