GDL Scholarship 2014 Awarded

Friday, 26 September 2014

The School of Law are delighted to announce that Nicholas Cottrell is the recipient of the 2014 GDL Scholarship. Nicholas beat off stiff competition by submitting the winning response to the question:
"In December 2013 the U.K. Supreme Court held that Scientology is a religion. What should be the legally-recognised criteria for a religion?"
Nico came to Brookes following a Theology degree and Masters at Durham University. After graduating, he worked for an energy consultancy firm before starting at Oxford Brookes.
"I chose Oxford Brookes for the GDL because of its reputation for outstanding teaching and scenic setting. I hope to be a commercial lawyer in the future."
Nico will receive £2000 towards his fees for the upcoming year. Staff at the School of Law wish to congratulate Nico on this award saying:
"we look forward to seeing him and all of our other students in the new academic year."
