America politics

Oxford Brookes historian Dr James Cooper provided live commentary on US President Donald Trump’s inauguration day (20 January) with Heart FM News.

The event was considered by many to be a polarising occasion rather than the celebration of the peaceful transfer of power from one president to another.

He commented: “It was interesting to discuss the nation’s response to what I am sure will become a pivotal event in American History, and is therefore bound to be remembered with a mixture of national celebration as well as division.”

James was previously interviewed by Heart for its news coverage throughout the presidential election.

Dr James Cooper is an expert in modern history, with a specialty in contemporary American and British political history. He is Senior Lecturer in History at Oxford Brookes University.
