Indian Connections: Adjunct Professorship at St John's Research Institute, Bangalore

Waltraud Ernst, Professor in the History of Medicine, has been made Adjunct Professor in the Division of Health and Humanities at St John’s Research Institute, Bangalore. She is currently collaborating with Mario Vaz, Professor in the Department
of Physiology and Director of History of Medicine at the Medical College, on a project on ‘The history of alcohol in British India: Consumption, policies and representations’.
The Research Institute is part of St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, a renowned medical training and clinical institution that comprises of Medical College, Hospital, Nursing College and the Institute of Health Management and
Paramedical Studies. The mission of the Research Institute is to make a significant impact on Lifestyle Related Disorders and Infectious Diseases in India through basic and clinical research, promotion of evidence-based health care and population
health research initiatives.
