Law lecturer consults with Law Commission

Chara Bakalis, principal lecturer in law has submitted written evidence to the Parliamentary Home Affairs Committee which is carrying out an inquiry into hate crime and its consequences.

Her contribution argues for the reform of current legislation which deals with online hate. In addition, Chara presented a paper on reform of the rules on cyberhate at the Criminal Law Reform Now conference at Sussex University earlier this year. This conference was organised as part of the Law Commission's consultation process which will enable the Law Commission to make decisions about which areas of law reform to focus on over the next five years.
