Modern Art Oxford

Programme lead for MA Education: Artist Teacher Scheme, Senior Lecturer Dr Rachel Payne, recently gave a presentation ‘Drawing Professional Worlds’ as part of an event ‘Creative Conversation: She who re-writes Herstory re-writes History (part 2)’ at Modern Art Oxford. The event looked at the exploration of art’s vital role in education, from an overview of policy and the challenges it presently faces, to art practitioners’ experience.

Rachel Payne commented “It was a great pleasure to be able to present artist teachers' stories and artworks at Modern Art Oxford. The seminar provided a timely opportunity to reflect on the impact that the programme has on participants' professional identities and practices, as we celebrate ten years of the ATS at Brookes.”

Rachel added “The Artist Teacher Scheme MA in Education offers a community of practice for artist teachers, helping them challenge agendas in education which devalue the subject, the teacher and their students.”
