OBU Future Barrister Scholarship

Wednesday, 18 June 2014

The School of Law is pleased to announce that the 2014 OBU Future Barrister Scholarship has been jointly awarded to Ellie Sheahan and Edmund Gross, who are both third-year undergraduates at Oxford Brookes. The awards were made following an application requiring submission of an essay and an interview. The scholarship, which was sponsored by School of Law alumnus, Luke Campbell, is designed to assist Ellie and Ed with the costs of undertaking the next stage of their legal training to become barristers. Mark O’Brien, Head of the School of Law said:
This is a fantastic achievement by Ellie and Ed, in the face of worthy competition. In addition to its teaching and research credentials, the School of Law here at Oxford Brookes has long been committed to a learning environment that provides support for our students to make a ‘real world’ difference, and to equip them for the world after university: the School of Law is very grateful to our alumnus, Luke Campbell, for his sponsorship of this Scholarship for intending Barristers.
Luke Campbell ‘11 added:
Law students are finding it increasingly difficult to carry the heavy financial burdens associated with legal studies, and that is why I am delighted to be able to support two of Brookes’ best undergraduates as they pursue their chosen career paths. Both Ellie and Ed are deserving victors - I wish them all the best for their future careers.
