Ohara-Yale

Oxford Brookes historian Professor Glen O’Hara travelled to Yale University, USA, at the request of Yale’s Centre for International Security Studies, to talk about new themes in modern and contemporary British history in the light of the political upheavals of the last few years.

During his visit he taught on a course covering ‘War at Sea in the Age of Sail’ and presented a paper to the International Security Studies Brady-Johnson Colloquium in Grand Strategy and International History. He also gave a public lecture entitled ‘Unleashing demons? Why did “Brexit” happen, and what does it mean?’

Professor O’Hara commented: “this was a great opportunity to talk about how our present politics are informing our views of the British and global pasts, and I learned a great deal too about how these challenges and themes are perceived in the USA.”

Professor Glen O’Hara teaches Modern and Contemporary History in the School of History, Philosophy and Culture.
