Pullman to open Annual Showcase for Creative Writers

Monday, 23 January 2012

The Brookes Creative Writing MA Annual Showcase will this year be opened by Philip Pullman, bestselling author of the trilogy His Dark Materials and Creative Writing Fellow at Oxford Brookes. The event, attended by publishers and agents, offers the MA students the opportunity to showcase their work before industry professionals. Dr James Hawes, senior lecturer in Creative Writing at Brookes, says: "In a sense, this even is the culmination of our work. Every writer wants to be published, and quite rightly so: we do everything we can to make this happen for our MA students.” He adds: "We are delighted that Philip Pullman, who visits us regularly, will this year be opening the showcase – on the stage named after him!” The event will take place in May at the Pegasus Theatre. Prospective MA in Creative Writing students are also welcome to attend and should contact smassingham@brookes.ac.uk for more information.
