Richard Huggins invited by the NAD for giving a research training course

Richard Huggins has been invited by the Nordic Centre for Alcohol and Drug Research (NAD) as a lecturer to the research training course Theories and Images of Addiction. The course will be arranged in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, University of Helsinki, October 18-24, 2008. The course, which is mainly intended for PhD students of social and behavioural sciences, will contain introductions to the main addiction theories, historical overviews, insights in the uses of the addiction concept, of different behavioural theories and of different diagnostic practices. The preliminary title of Richard's lecture is "Embodiment - mapping social policy representations of the addict's body". The theme of the day is "Embodiment and perceptions of addiction".
