Why did you decide to come and study in the UK?

It's not my first time in the UK or Oxford, my sister is under 18 and she is a student of one of the Oxford Schools. I'm not just a student in Oxford Brookes University, I am also a brother and guardian for her. That's why right now, right here we are together in Oxford.

What did you think of the city when you came to Oxford? Do you have any first impressions?

I'm not a fan of big cities, so all small town cities like Oxford or Cambridge I've always loved. It's pretty simple. It's great. I just like that.

How have you found studying online due to the pandemic?

Unusual first of all, but it's quite good right now. It is much better now than it was at the beginning. The support I have received from my lectures and from the international student advice team has been great. Whenever I have questions, I just email my teachers or my support team and I always have an answer, pretty fast.

How have you found making friends since you are not studying on campus? Has that been difficult?

It's not difficult - We have approximately 12 students in our group and we have a WhatsApp group, so we chat and have discussions all the time. We are talking and that is the most important thing.

How do you find the teaching style differs in Russia compared to the UK? How is the teaching style at Oxford Brookes?

Teaching style is much easier in the UK than in my hometown, because we have so many subjects. We have more than 12 subjects and in the UK most of my subjects are practical not theoretical. So the teachers explain to us how this works in real life.

What would be your top tips for other international students that are interested in studying in the UK or studying at Brookes?

People who want to study at Oxford Brookes, the only tip which I can give is, it's the right decision! It's a very good university, pick this one and everything will be good. The tip for the current students is to be confident, you are part of the family. If you have a question, just ask - everyone will provide answers.

How would you sum up your time at Oxford Brookes using just one word?

I want to use the word unusual because it's very unusual for me. Uh, but if you want a positive word - magnificent!
