I’m a student representative for my course. You get to air your views and you can actually go and talk to the seminar leader himself, which is quite different from back home.

What made you decide to study in the UK?
I actually had a sister here and she said it was pretty nice. Then I’d looked over the site and it was ranked I think among the best universities in the UK. Oxford is a nice city, and it just feels like home when you’re here, because the customer care is really nice and the students here are really really nice.

How do you find the teaching style here at university compared to what you were used to before?
It’s really nice, because you get to talk to the module leaders if you have a problem. And then during the seminars you can have a one-on-one talk with the seminar leader to straighten out your problem.

We are a small number in the class (about 10 to 14 in my seminars), so it’s a lot easier for the seminar leader to go over things so everybody can understand, compared to a room where there’s very many people and we’re all learning at a different pace.

Which of the learning facilities do you use the most while you’re here?
The library, because basically you have everything in the library, including access to the internet, so that makes it a lot easier compared to back home where you don’t really have computers in the library.

How did the staff help you settle in when you got to Brookes?
I have my academic advisor doing one of my modules. It was really easy for me to interact with her in class, and actually talk to her aside from that. So she made me feel at home, because you can talk to her about the studies bit of it all and then you can also talk to her about personal issues.

What do you like most about living in Oxford?
It’s really quiet and peaceful compared to back home. Back home it’s really noisy, but here it’s a nice environment.
