    Training and development

Our training courses cover a whole range of disciplines and include:

    • Comprehensive induction - we’ll make sure that you hit the ground running with our comprehensive induction programme.
    • Coaching and mentoring - we encourage all our managers to adopt a coaching approach to managing and developing their staff. Our training programme will give you the opportunity to develop your coaching and mentoring skills, as well as giving you an accredited qualification.
    • Vocational qualifications - we offer a wide range of National Vocational Qualifications that enable our staff to use their work and train in tandem. NVQs recognise that learning by doing is often the best way to acquire new skills and gain qualifications.
    • Peer Enhancement of Teaching Assessment and Learning (PETAL) - is a process of learning from and with colleagues in a developmental scheme based on observation of your academic practice.
    • Brookes Teaching Fellowships - recognise and foster excellence in teaching. Fellowships are awarded annually through an application process that allows teaching and support staff to showcase their excellence in teaching and provide a project plan for how it can be driven forward.
    • I started life as an administrator at Brookes back in the late 90's. Since then I have had the benefit of training and support in obtaining further qualifications from the University and I am now Head of Department. The offering at Brookes has assisted me in progressing my career.
