      Digital Services and Learning Technology

  • The Digital Services and Learning Technology team provide on-campus development of the Brookes Virtual Learning Environment; assisting academic staff in integrating technology enhanced learning into their learning, teaching and assessment practice. We run staff training surgery sessions for many of the technologies, including Moodle, Adobe Connect, Turnitin's Feedback Studio and other TEL technologies.

    Our key services include:

    • Moodle (Virtual Learning Environment)
    • Turnitin's Feedback Studio (text-matching/originality report software and online marking and feedback)
    • Adobe Connect (Virtual classroom)
    • Library Services Platform
    • EndNote (bibliographic software)
    • Camtasia (screencasting software)
    • RADAR (digital repository)
    • Athens and Shibboleth authentication

Our remit includes the evaluation of new teaching and learning software and hardware. We organise demonstrations and presentations of new technology via the Technology Experimentation Group (TEG). We convene regular forums where we play 'expert pool' as a means to build up the Brookes Community of Practice and a support network for digital capabilities (Full Sessions Listing). We recruit and train ePioneers to act as researchers, mentors, and trainers in our reverse mentoring programme (InStePP).
