Oxford Brookes catalogue and EndNote Web

  • *NB There is currently a problem with exporting records from our Library Catalogue into EndNote which is being investigated (April 2017). As an alternative you can save records in a file and import them, or go to Discover and use the export option there. Instructions for both methods are below:

    Exporting from Discover

    • Run a search on Discover. Find an item you want to transfer and click on the title.
    • Click on the 'Actions' option on the right of the screen and select 'EndNote' from the list.

Transferring records from the Library Catalogue

It is possible to transfer single records from the Library catalogue into your EndNote Web Library, or you can transfer a batch of records.

Process for transferring a single record

    • Search on the Library Catalogue in the usual way.
    • Select reference by using the 'Add to My Reading' button. A dialog box with various options will open.
    • From the options in the dialogue box, select RIS as the export option, then click on export. Make sure you know where you have saved the file.
    • Open EndNote Web. Import the RIS file you have saved, using the Collect > Import References option. Select the file you have saved and, under the "Import option" select RefMan RIS from the drop-down list. You will also need to select the group or folder in EndNote Web into which you'd like to import the references.
    • (Note you would normally choose EndNote Web as the export option, then log into your EndNote Web account when prompted and the reference would be transferred to your Library).

Process for importing a batch of records

    • Search on the Library Catalogue in the usual way.
    • Create a list of 'My Reading': select your first reference by using the 'Add to My Reading' button. Give the list a name and repeat the process to add further records to the same list.
    • When you've finished, go to 'My Loans and Reservations' at the top of the catalogue screen and log in with your student/staff number, then click on 'My Reading' to see the list.
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select RIS from the drop-down list of export options, then export.
    • (Note you would normally choose the EndNote Web export option and click 'Export'. You would be prompted to log into your EndNote Web account and then the references would be transferred to your Library).
