Oxford Brookes catalogue and EndNote

  • It is possible to export records from the Library catalogue in a format suitable for importing directly into EndNote. The process of exporting from the catalogue and importing into EndNote is outlined below, for importing either a single record or for a list of catalogue records.

Process for importing a single record

    1. Search on the Library Catalogue in the usual way.

    2. Select reference by using the 'Add to My Reading' button.

    3. In the dialogue box that opens select EndNote Desktop as the export option.

    4. In EndNote Desktop click on 'File', then 'Import' and select 'File'. Find the file you've just exported from the catalogue, and select 'EndNote Import' as the import option. Then click Import.

Process for importing a batch of records

    1. Search on the Library Catalogue in the usual way.

    2. Create a list of 'My Reading': select your first reference by using the 'Add to My Reading' button. Give the list a name and repeat the process to add further records to the same list.

    3. When you've finished, go to 'My Loans and Reservations' at the top of the catalogue screen and log in with your student/staff number, then click on 'My Reading' to see the list.

    4. Scroll down to the bottom of the list. Change the export option to EndNote Desktop and click 'Export'.

    5. In EndNote Desktop click on 'File', then 'Import' and select 'File'. Find the file you've just exported from the catalogue, and select 'EndNote Import' as the import option. Then click Import.
