Collection management policy - section 5 - electronic resources

  • The Library collects or provides access to information published in a variety of formats, including electronic formats. Selection decisions are made on the basis of the relevance and quality of the resource, not its format. However where information exists in different formats (e.g. printed, CD-ROM, online) Library staff will strive to select the best medium for the Library taking account of cost, ease-of-use, currency, limitations on access, and any practical considerations affecting the installation of CD-ROMs. Online or Web-based resources are very often preferred over other categories of electronic resources for reasons of ease-of-use, wider access, and more rapid updating.

For more information on the range of electronic resources to which the Library provides access see the Electronic Library pages.
