The Special Collections Reading Room is located on the basement level of the Library, in the John Henry Brookes Building, Gipsy Lane Campus. Please visit the University visitor webpage for campus maps and travel information.
Current staff and students must present a valid University ID card on each visit. External researchers must complete a Reading Room Registration Form (available in Word or PDF format) and provide suitable ID (see below) on their first visit; a Reading Room pass will then be issued, which must be presented on all subsequent visits.
Please note that visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (i.e. parent/guardian/teacher), and a registration form must be completed by the accompanying adult.
An additional form must be completed by all researchers (staff, students, and external researchers) wishing to use the Booker Prize Archive (available as a Google doc, as a Word document or in PDF format).
Visitors are bound by the Library Regulations and specific regulations relating to the use of Special Collections at Oxford Brookes University Library.
At the time of registration:
Library Catalogue PCs are available in the Reading Room. Brookes students and staff can also use a pooled room PC and connect their registered laptops wirelessly to the Brookes network.
