Foundation degree

  • Where to start

Welcome to Oxford Brookes students who are studying for a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Work at one of our Partner Colleges. Although you aren't studying on campus, you still have access to all Brookes resources and facilities. For general information about what's available to you, we have a dedicated Partner college page.

Help for health and social work subjects

The pages you've just navigated through to find this one are our Subject Help pages, written by the health and social work librarians to pull out Library resources appropriate for your subject area. Our How to... page has lots of guides to help with searching for information on your topic, and you can always contact us for more information.

    Books

Providing the key textbooks you need for your course is the responsibility of the library in your college. However, if you want to borrow books from any of the Oxford Brookes campus libraries in Oxford and Swindon, you're welcome to do so. You can also access Brookes' e-books from anywhere with an internet connection.
To find any book, use the search box on the Library homepage, clicking the 'Books & e-books' option.

    Journals

Thousands of health and social work journals are available as e-journals.
Search for the title of the journal you want to access using the 'E-journals by title' option in the search box on the Library homepage and following the links through to the full text.

    Logging in

To get to any e-resources, you'll be asked for your Brookes Login - use your Brookes student number and password, which you should have received after enrolling (your Brookes student number is on your Brookes student card). Once you've logged in, you should be able to move from one Brookes Library e-resource to another within the same Web browser session without logging in again.
