MARITIME DIMENSION OF TRANSNATIONAL ORGANISED CRIME

      Develop maritime infrastructure

  • RESEARCH QUESTIONS

The project works with the following main research question: how do Indonesian coastal communities and governmental law enforcement agencies contextualise and understand the legal and societal aspects of the land-sea nexus in the maritime dimension of transnational organised crime and how can the practices and insights of such coastal communities and governmental agencies be utilised in programmes and actions that seek to reduce transnational organised crime and enhance maritime security?

    FURTHER RESEARCH QUESTIONS

During the Inception Workshop in Jakarta, March 2017, we've identified the following questions:

    • Who are the main actors in the maritime domain?
    • Which particular illegal activities are being experienced with what effect?
    • What law enforcement tools are being used and with what success?
    • How do communities and law enforcers appreciate each other?
    • What do these stakeholders see as ways forward?
