  • The Department of Midwifery, Community and Public Health, part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, provide a range of undergraduate, post-registration and postgraduate courses in community nursing, public health and midwifery, alongside short courses to support your continuing professional development needs. We also offer the Return to Practice course – a route back into midwifery for those who would like to renew their registration; and through the Oxford Institute of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Research we offer various exciting PhD opportunities.

Our courses are tailored to meet their individual professional, academic and clinical needs. These include evidence based practice, compassionate care, interprofessional working, cultural competence, activism in public and social health policy, interdisciplinary and creative collaboration and professional leadership. We utilise a diverse range of teaching methods, including blended and distance learning and the online Oxford Brookes Virtual Learning Environment.

We have an excellent reputation for the quality of our education, research and student support. In addition, we have substantial and growing links with overseas universities, health and social care organisations, research groups and a range of local and national education collaborators.

We have a large and well equipped site at Marston Road on the University’s Headington Campus in Oxford, with access to first-rate facilities including classrooms, lecture theatres, dedicated simulation and communication skills suites and resources, and fully networked computer rooms. We have excellent IT and library resources, accessible both via the web and a range of locally based facilities on University and NHS sites.
