Kay is a member of the OCSLD Consultant team and believes that a workforce is its people. A learning and development professional since 1990 with diverse experience of workforce and organisational development projects in the public (local government, enterprise councils, NHS) and education (school, FE, HE, voluntary) sectors she has taught, counselled, coached, advised, designed, project-managed, moderated and evaluated across a wide range of subject, career and skills development areas. She is particularly interested in vocational learning pathways, and works to bridge divides between school and work, work and further/higher education, and one career path and another - believing that practical learning is a great key to collaboration,inclusion, wellbeing and positive change in our systems.
Current areas of focus are building a coaching resource at Brookes, internships, developing an infrastructure for apprenticeships, career development, using our ILM Centre to devise partnerships with internal and external learner groups, and one-to-one/small group work using psychological profiling instruments like MBTI, 360, Functional Fluency Index and Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQi). Teaching and tutoring on Brookes’ practitioner coaching and manager programmes is a major feature, too. The emphasis on self-awareness and emotional intelligence as keys to creativity and effectiveness is reflected in her projects.
