  • Improving student learning through teaching: a research informed perspective

    A key aspect of efforts to improve student learning experiences is academics’ critical evidence and research informed reflection on their teaching practice aimed at improving that practice. In this presentation, I intend to:

    • outline some ideas on evidence- and research- informed practice in teaching and learning in higher education,
    • provide a perspective on the relationship between evidence-informed practice and the new national framework for professional practice
    • review some of the literature from the student learning perspective on how academics’ experiences of teaching relate to students’ experiences of learning.
